The Different Records.

A record can be many different things.

You can own a record. (ie. CD, Vinyl, Album.) /ˈrekərd/

You can hold a record. (ie. The best performance or most remarkable event of its kind that has been officially measured and noted.) /ˈrekərd/

You can keep a record. (ie. A Thing constituting a piece of evidence about the past, especially an account of an act or occurrence kept in writing or some other permanent form.) /ˈrekərd/

You can record. (ie. To set down in writing or some other permanent form for later reference, especially officially.) /rəˈkôrd/

Generally, a record or to record is in reference to  the past or to solidify something from or in the past.

RECORD – RE & CORD

Re – once more; afresh; anew.

Cord – attach a cord to or link to something else

Record = A new link to something else
